Useful first: Draw your first rectangle
Push/Pull starts from an enclosed sketch region or a supported planar face. New body makes a separate solid; Join adds material to a body and Cut removes it.
Try it in Cadivari
Prepare one closed region
For this exercise, use a fresh Top-plane sketch with a single 160 × 96 mm rectangle. Leave the offset exercise in its own saved project. Return to 3D.
Grab the sketch region
Click Push/Pull and hover inside the rectangle. Click the highlighted region, choose New body and enter a distance of 20 mm.
Create the body
Press Enter or click Create body. The single-region source sketch hides automatically. The feature stays linked to that sketch.
Edit the top face
With Push/Pull still active, click the top planar face. Enter −5 mm and confirm with Enter or Apply face edit. This removes 5 mm from the current height.
A small exercise
Create the 20 mm block, then reduce its height by 5 mm with a direct face edit. Save the resulting body for the Fillet lesson.
What you should see
The footprint remains 160 × 96 mm and the height becomes 15 mm. The extrusion and face edit remain separate editable features.
Things to look out for
- A visible sketch can cover a solid face. Hide it using the eye control when you want to edit the face.
- A positive face distance adds material and a negative distance removes it. Each edit is relative to the current face.
Check your understandingDoes a second face edit replace the first edit
No. Each confirmed face edit adds another feature. Two outward edits of 5 mm and 3 mm add 8 mm in total.
