Try it in Cadivari

  1. Open a sketch

Start a new project in CAD. Choose Sketch and select the Top plane. Drawing tools appear beside the main tool rail.

  2. Choose Rectangle

Click Rectangle in the drawing column or press R while the canvas has focus. Outside an active sketch, the Draw menu also contains Rectangle.

  3. Place opposite corners

Click once for the first corner. Move the pointer and click the opposite corner. The second click creates the rectangle; Esc cancels an unfinished preview.

  4. Make the dimensions exact

Press V for Select and click the rectangle. In Properties, set Width to 160 mm and Height to 96 mm. Save your project for the next lesson.

Over to you

A small exercise

Create one 160 × 96 mm rectangle on the Top plane. Select it and drag a gold corner handle, then undo the resize with Ctrl + Z.

What you should see

One closed rectangle remains at 160 × 96 mm. Selecting it shows four gold corner handles and editable dimensions.

Things to look out for

  • Grid snapping can change the point you place. Read the preview and use Properties for exact dimensions.
  • Press V before editing a finished rectangle. Staying in Rectangle starts another shape.
Check your understandingDoes resizing a rectangle require drawing it again

No. Select it and edit Width and Height, or drag a corner while its opposite corner stays fixed.
