Recommended test
Confirm snapping assists close placements but releases the pointer elsewhere.
- Leave Grid, Points, and Guides enabled and draw a line near a grid intersection.
- Move several pixels away and confirm the cursor follows freely instead of jumping to the grid.
- Start another line, hold Shift, and confirm its next point follows 45-degree increments while a compatible exact geometry target can still show a green snap.
- Approach an existing endpoint and confirm the labelled Endpoint target wins over the grid.
- Open the arrow beside Snap, enable Edges, and approach the middle of an existing line.
- Disable Guides and confirm visible construction guides no longer attract the pointer.
01 · CONTROLS
One master switch with four target modes
The Snap button in the bottom bar enables or disables all snapping immediately. Its adjacent arrow opens the target menu. Mode changes are display preferences and do not alter existing geometry or add undo history.
02 · MODES
Choose useful targets
Grid acquires nearby grid intersections. Points includes endpoints, corners, centres, and midpoints. Edges finds the nearest point along drawing geometry and is off by default to keep free placement calm. Guides includes construction guides, guide intersections, mirror guides, and projected sketch references.
03 · BEHAVIOUR
Exact geometry wins
Snapping uses a small screen-space acquisition radius, so it feels consistent while zooming. Exact endpoints and corners take priority, followed by guide intersections, centres and midpoints, guides, edges, and finally the grid. The marker label identifies the target that will receive the click.
While drawing a line, hold Shift to constrain the next point to the nearest 45-degree increment. A compatible exact geometry snap is preserved; if a target conflicts with that direction, the constraint wins and the green target marker clears.
When the pointer is outside every acquisition radius, Cadivari uses the raw millimetre coordinate. Keeping Snap enabled therefore no longer imposes a minimum grid-sized movement on new geometry.
IMPLEMENTATION NOTE
Local preferences
The four mode choices are stored locally for the current installation or browser profile. New installations begin with Grid, Points, and Guides enabled and Edges disabled.
