Sketch constraints

Keep lines, circles and mirror axes related with guided constraint selection.

Choose your version. The browser app is 0.4; Windows remains 0.3. Tools and project formats differ. See version differences.

Set a relationship

In Browser 0.4 sketch mode, click Constraints below Guides. Choose an icon from the centred toolbar and follow the lower-left selection prompt. For Perpendicular, click two lines. For Horizontal or Vertical, select one line. Length, Radius and Angle ask for a value. The tool stays active for repeated use; Escape clears a partial selection and then closes the tool.

Supported geometry

Authored lines and mirror axes support Horizontal, Vertical, Parallel, Perpendicular, Equal length, Fix, Length and Angle where applicable. Circles support Equal radius, Concentric, Fix and Radius. Coincident relates line endpoints or circle centres; Tangent relates a line and circle. Angle is measured from the sketch’s local horizontal axis, including on angled planes.

Inspect and edit

Indicators show stored relationships; connected perpendicular lines show a right-angle mark. In Constraints, click an indicator to inspect its objects, edit a dimension or remove the relationship. Delete removes the selected constraint. Numeric labels can also be edited directly.

Conflicts and limits

Conflicting, collapsed or unsolved geometry is rejected without partially moving the sketch. Remove or edit a conflicting relationship deliberately. General spline and arc constraints are not provided. Detach generated mirror copies before constraining them directly; the guide axis itself can be constrained. Constraints, geometry and undo history update together.
