How to place and use horizontal and vertical construction guides in Cadivari.

Recommended test

Use one horizontal and one vertical guide to establish a precise construction centre.

  1. Open a sketch and choose Guides, directly below Measure.
  2. Select Horizontal and click once to place the first guide.
  3. Hold Shift and click to place a temporary vertical guide without changing the selected orientation.
  4. Draw a line near the guide intersection and confirm the pointer snaps to it.
  5. Drag a guide, enter an exact X or Y value in Properties, then test its eye and delete controls in Objects.

01 · PLACE

Horizontal and vertical construction

Choose Guides from the sketch tool rail and select Horizontal or Vertical in the compact viewport control. One click places an infinite guide at that coordinate. Holding Shift while placing temporarily uses the opposite orientation, which is useful when building a quick crosshair.

02 · EDIT

Move visually or enter an exact value

While Guides is active, drag any guide to reposition it. Select a guide to change its orientation or enter its exact Y position for a horizontal guide and X position for a vertical guide. Each completed placement or move is one undoable project change.

03 · SNAP

Guide-aware drawing

Visible guides participate when the Guides snap mode is enabled. The pointer magnetically acquires a nearby guide line or the crossing of a horizontal and vertical guide without forcing distant clicks onto it. Open the arrow beside Snap in the bottom bar to enable or disable Guides independently from Grid, Points, and Edges. Hide a guide from Objects whenever it should no longer influence the sketch.

CURRENT SCOPE

Construction geometry only

Guides are persistent sketch entities: they support save/open, undo/redo, visibility, selection, and deletion. They have no finite bounds and are intentionally excluded from automatic stock fitting, CAM geometry, SVG export, and PDF output. Angled guides, offsets from existing edges, and associative guide constraints are sensible later iterations.
