Use a mirrored enclosure or template outline so both attachment behavior and live updates are visible.
- Choose Measure or press D.
- Click the left side of the mirrored spline, hold Shift, move to the right side, and click again when the second boundary highlights.
- Confirm the dotted ruler, outward arrows, and millimetre label span the complete profile horizontally.
- Switch to Select, move a spline control point, and confirm the stored width updates immediately.
- Undo and redo the measurement, save the project, reopen it, and confirm the ruler remains attached.

Create a ruler
Activate Measure from the CAD tool rail or press D. Click near the first rectangle, line, circle, arc, or spline boundary. A persistent dotted ruler then follows the pointer until you click a highlighted second boundary. Cadivari highlights the full snapped path and uses a screen-sized tolerance, so boundary picking remains clear and consistent at different zoom levels.
Move normally for a direct aligned measurement. Hold Shift while choosing the second point to lock the ruler horizontally and find the second boundary at the first attachment's Y position.
02 · ASSOCIATIVE
The value follows the drawing
A measurement stores references to the measured paths rather than copied coordinates. Editing a line, circle, arc, rectangle, spline, or mirror guide resolves both attachments again and recalculates the displayed value. The derived half of a mirrored spline is a supported attachment, so one ruler can measure a complete symmetric profile.
If an edited boundary no longer crosses a horizontal ruler, the annotation changes to an explicit warning state instead of silently displaying an incorrect value.

Construction annotation only
Measure entities are stored in the project and listed in Objects, but they are intentionally excluded from automatic stock fitting, CAM geometry, SVG export, and PDF output. The first version supports aligned and Shift-locked horizontal rulers. Offset dimension lines, vertical-only mode, editable label placement, diameter/radius dimensions, and optional drawing-export annotations remain future refinements.
