Recommended test
Start with a simple box and an offset plane.
- Push/Pull a closed rectangle into a New Body.
- Create an offset plane that passes through the middle of the box.
- Choose Split Body, select the box, then select the offset plane.
- Check the two-colour preview and choose Create two bodies.
- Hide each result in turn, edit the plane offset, and confirm both results rebuild.
01 · BODY AND TOOL
Choose one active body and one plane
In the 3D workspace, choose Split Body. Select the body to divide, then select an origin or construction plane in the viewport or the 3D Objects panel. The plane is treated as an infinite cutting surface; its visible rectangle does not limit the cut.
02 · GUARDED PREVIEW
Both sides must be real solids
Cadivari previews the two sides with different colours and creates new cap faces where the plane crosses the body. Creation stays disabled unless both results are closed, watertight, positive-volume solids and their combined volume matches the source.
Move or rotate the plane so it passes through the body. A plane outside the body or exactly tangent to its surface does not produce two usable solids.
03 · ASSOCIATIVE BRANCH
The source remains editable history
The original body is retained as consumed source history rather than destroyed. Two result bodies appear in the object tree with independent names, visibility, and Move/Rotate placement. Editing the source sketch, its earlier features, or the cutting plane rebuilds both results while preserving each result's placement. Deleting the Split Body operation removes both results and restores the source body.
04 · FABRICATION OUTPUT
Export the active results
Visible split results are included as separate watertight objects in 3MF export, including their exact Move/Rotate placements. The consumed source body is omitted, so a slicer receives the actual positioned two-part model rather than a duplicate unsplit solid.

- One active source body and one existing reference plane per operation
- Both sides are always kept as explicit bodies
- Split results can be split again
- Chamfer, Fillet, Shell, Join, Cut and sketch-on-face are not yet enabled on split results
- Those downstream tools require stable names for inherited and newly created faces and edges
