Revolve

Rotate a closed profile around any straight line in the same sketch to create a full or partial solid.

Recommended test

Create a simple rotational part with an editable axis.

  1. In one sketch, draw a closed profile and a separate straight line.
  2. Choose Revolve, click the closed face, then click the line as the axis.
  3. Preview 360°, then test a partial angle and Symmetric direction.
  4. Create the body and edit the source profile.
  5. Add a sketch fillet and confirm the saved Revolve rebinds to the uniquely extended loop.

01 · PROFILE AND AXIS

Use one closed face and one straight sketch line

The rotation axis can be vertical, horizontal or angled, but it must be a straight line in the same sketch as the profile. Cadivari treats it as an infinite axis. The profile may touch that axis but cannot cross it.

Nested closed boundaries inside the selected face become true through-holes in the revolved body.

02 · ORIENTATION

Set sweep and start angle with direction control

Enter a sweep from a partial rotation through a full 360°. Positive and Negative sweep to one side of the radial start. Symmetric uses the entered value around a Centre angle. The radial guide and live end caps show the exact orientation before commit.

03 · OPERATION

Create a New Body or guarded Join

New Body creates an independent revolved solid. Join can append a connected revolution to an explicitly selected prismatic Extrude body when the guarded union is resolvable.

ASSOCIATIVE HISTORY

The sketch remains authoritative

The feature stores the face and axis references plus exact angle, start angle and direction. Editing the linked sketch rebuilds the disposable display mesh. Unambiguous associative sketch fillets can extend the stored outer loop without resetting the Revolve.

  • Full and partial New Body rotations are supported
  • The complete face may touch but cannot cross the infinite axis
  • Revolve Join is deliberately limited to validated connected prismatic targets
  • Revolve Cut and general surface Booleans remain future work
