Cutting Parameters

Configure feed, plunge, spindle speed, and cutting direction for a Cadivari rectangle contour.

Recommended test

Use a valid through-depth rectangle contour so only cutting-parameter feedback affects its state.

  1. Open CAM and create a new outside rectangle contour. Under Operations, find Cutting parameters · preview only.
  2. Confirm the starter values are Feed 1000 mm/min, Plunge 300 mm/min, Spindle 18000 RPM, and Climb.
  3. Change Feed to 800, Plunge to 250, and Spindle to 16000. Each value should remain after pressing Enter or leaving the field.
  4. Change Direction to Conventional. The heading should update immediately, and the caret inside the cyan cutter marker should reverse. Switch back to Climb and confirm it reverses again.
  5. Set Plunge to 900 while Feed remains 800. The operation should turn amber, show Review, and explain that plunge is higher than feed.
  6. Set Feed to 10001. The operation should turn red and report the current 10,000 mm/min preview limit.
  7. Restore Feed to 800, then set Spindle to 999. The operation should turn red and report the current 1,000 RPM minimum.
  8. Restore Spindle to 16000 and Plunge to 250, then test undo and redo for the numeric fields and direction.

The values belong to the contour operation, not the tool or the whole job. Two contours can therefore use different cutting parameters while referring to the same 6 mm cutter. In 2D and 3D, the caret inside the cyan cutter marker points along the selected feed-travel direction; it does not show spindle rotation.

Safe values depend on material, cutter geometry, stick-out, router or spindle, machine rigidity, workholding, and chip evacuation. Cadivari stores and checks the requested values but does not certify them.

Catch missing values and likely typing mistakes

A plunge rate above the feed rate produces an amber review warning but remains calculable. Values outside the current preview ranges produce a red Check state. These broad ranges catch missing values and likely input mistakes; passing them does not mean a setup is safe.
