Recommended test
Place one box face against another, then verify the editable result.
- Create two separate boxes in different positions and select the first body.
- Choose Move/Rotate, then choose Align planar faces.
- Hover and click one highlighted face on the moving box. Middle-drag to orbit if the destination is hidden.
- Hover and click a highlighted face on the second box. Confirm the preview places the moving body outside the target with the selected face centres together.
- Choose Flip 180°, then enter a positive Face offset. Confirm Flip changes only the in-plane orientation and Offset opens a measured gap along the target normal.
- Choose Apply placement, reopen Move/Rotate, and confirm the resulting X/Y/Z values remain editable.
- Export 3MF and confirm both parts retain their displayed positions in the slicer.
01 · BODY PLACEMENT
Choose one active solid body
Select a body in the viewport or 3D Objects tree, then choose Move/Rotate in the 3D tool rail. If only one active body exists, Cadivari chooses it automatically. You can select a different body while the task is open.
02 · DIRECT CONTROL
Move or rotate with the viewport gizmo
Choose Move gizmo for global X/Y/Z translation arrows and plane handles, or Rotate gizmo for local rotation rings. Click a colored handle once to grab it, move the pointer without holding the mouse button, then click again to place it. The solid and numeric fields update together as one live preview. Camera orbit is suspended between the grab and placement clicks; Escape cancels the task and restores the saved placement.
The colored handles use Cadivari's model X, Y and Z axes. The stored rotation order is X, then Y, then Z.
03 · OBJECT SNAP
Place the origin or a temporary body point
With Move gizmo active, click its centre dot for the quick origin-to-target workflow. The body remains fixed while an anchor line follows the pointer. A small point at the end of the line marks the exact connection, and the pointer keeps its ordinary arrow cursor. Hover another visible body and click that point; only then does Cadivari translate the body so its origin lands there.
To move from existing geometry instead, choose Pick move-from point in the task card or hold Shift while clicking the centre dot. First click a point on the selected body. The body stays fixed while the temporary anchor and gizmo centre relocate to that source. Next click the destination on another body. Cadivari translates the body so the chosen source lands exactly on the destination, without changing its rotation.
Once the source is set, you may middle-drag to orbit, Shift + middle-drag to pan, or use the wheel to zoom. Camera navigation leaves the source point and pending placement active, making hidden or closely spaced destination geometry easier to reach.
Both stages prioritize semantic targets within the snap radius: Vertex, Edge midpoint, and Face centre. The visible surface under the pointer remains available as a fallback. The endpoint deliberately has no floating label, box, or additional arrow graphic, so the target geometry stays visible.
The picked move-from point exists only for the current placement. It does not rewrite the body's mathematical origin or become a persistent rotation pivot. Press Escape during either stage to leave the body where it started. Exact fields, Reset, Apply, and the ordinary gizmo remain paused until the target is placed or the operation is cancelled; camera navigation is available during destination selection.
04 · FACE-TO-FACE
Align two planar body faces
Choose Align planar faces, then click one highlighted flat face on the moving body and one highlighted flat face on a different visible body. Cadivari derives connected planar regions from each body's current validated solid mesh, so supported faces include ordinary Extrudes, flat Loft faces, Revolve caps, Shell faces, and Split Body results. Curved regions and isolated tessellation facets are deliberately excluded.
The preview rotates the source face's outward normal opposite the target face's outward normal, then translates the moving body until the two area-weighted face centres coincide. This places the body on the target face's outside rather than through the target solid. Flip 180° turns the moving body in the contact plane without changing which side it occupies. A positive Face offset moves it farther along the target outward normal; a negative value moves it toward or through the target.
Middle-drag orbit, Shift + middle-drag pan, and wheel zoom remain available while either face is being chosen. Choose Apply placement to store the resulting rigid placement, or press Escape or choose Cancel face alignment to restore the placement that existed before face selection.
The selected faces calculate one editable Move/Rotate result. Cadivari does not store a live assembly constraint between the bodies, so later edits do not continuously re-solve the contact.
05 · EXACT VALUES
Enter millimetres and degrees
The task card exposes Move X/Y/Z in millimetres and Rotate X/Y/Z in degrees. You can mix direct dragging, point placement, face alignment, and exact entry before applying. Reset all to zero returns the body to its original feature-history position. Invalid or incomplete values keep Apply disabled.
06 · ASSOCIATIVE RESULT
Placement stays separate from feature geometry
Applying stores one versioned rigid placement on the body; it does not rewrite the source sketch or bake a display mesh. Reopen Move/Rotate to edit that placement. Earlier sketches and solid features still rebuild normally, after which the saved body placement is applied again.
Each Split Body result owns its own placement. Moving result A therefore does not move result B or destroy their shared associative split history.
07 · FABRICATION OUTPUT
3MF uses the placed coordinates
Visible body placements are baked into the validated triangle coordinates written to 3MF. Separate parts therefore open in a slicer at the positions shown in Cadivari. Project files retain the editable values rather than exported mesh data.
