0.2.0 Better sketches in fewer steps

Selectable sketch regions, multiple-region extrusion and the new Trim tool make it easier to shape an idea before giving it depth.

From one sketch to two bodies
Sketch, trim, select and extrudeTwo lines cross a rectangle, enclosing three regions. Trim removes the four outside tails. Selecting the two outer regions and extruding them creates two separate bodies with the same depth, leaving the middle region in the sketch.

One Push/Pull gives both separate bodies the same depth.

Draw a rectangle. Cross it with a few lines. Each enclosed area can now become a starting point for a solid. Cadivari 0.2.0 brings a more flexible sketch workflow, with a new Trim tool to clean up geometry and the ability to extrude several regions together.

Now available for Windows. Cadivari 0.2.0 has passed its final installation check. Update through Updates in the app, or visit owner downloads. If you installed the tested 0.2.0 candidate, you already have this release.

Several regions in one sketch

Closed regions are now detected where lines, rectangle sides, circles, arcs and ordinary splines intersect. The individual objects do not each need to be closed: together, they can form boundaries that you select in Push/Pull.

A line across a circle creates two selectable areas. Several lines through a rectangle create a set of smaller regions. The original sketch objects remain editable, and there is no need to trim away their outside tails just to use an enclosed region.

Select more and extrude once

In Push/Pull, Ctrl-click to add or remove regions from the same sketch, then set their shared extrusion distance and operation.

  • New body: adjacent selected regions merge into one body. Disconnected regions create separate bodies.
  • Join: add the selected regions to one chosen target body.
  • Cut: remove the selected regions from one chosen target body.

The animation above selects two disconnected regions, so the result is two bodies with the same depth. See the multiple-region Push/Pull guide for the full workflow and supported combinations.

Meet Trim

Press X or choose Trim. Hover over a curve to see exactly what will be removed, then click to cut away the section between intersections. Keep clicking to tidy the sketch, and press Esc to finish. Each click is one undoable edit.

Trim works with lines, circles, arcs, rectangle sides, and open or closed ordinary splines. Those curves can also act as cutting boundaries for one another. When there is no bounded section, the preview explicitly shows whole-curve removal.

Trimmed rectangles become editable lines. Retained spline sections keep their shape as one or more joined cubic spline pieces, each with editable control points. Undo restores the complete original object.

Try it: draw a circle and an S-shaped spline that crosses it twice. Trim the two outside tails, then select either remaining region in Push/Pull. The new Trim guide covers this example, rectangles, shortcuts and current limits.

A clearer editing experience

The body and feature lists fit the light theme more closely. Sketches sit correctly against solids in the 3D display, and Trim previews remain readable in both themes. The canvas zoom and Fit drawing buttons also receive clicks correctly.

The Knowledge Base has been updated alongside the tools, including the CAD basics overview and the individual drawing guides.

A few useful boundaries

Mirror-linked splines need Remove mirror before region detection or trimming. Ambiguous crossings, overlapping curves and very small remnants can be rejected with an explanation. Geometry already referenced by protected CAM operations must be released from those operations before trimming.

Trimming changes the source geometry. If an existing solid feature loses its referenced boundary, Cadivari keeps the feature definition and shows a rebuild issue. Check linked features after an edit. These are sketch and modelling improvements; they do not change machine-output verification.

When upgrading, open a copy of an existing project and save work using the new tools under a new name. Older Cadivari versions may not understand the new feature definitions.
